6 Questions to ask: When thinking about the future

6 Questions to Ask When Thinking About the Future

The new year is just around the corner, and with it comes the promise of new beginnings and endless lists of resolutions (some serious, some not so serious).
If you’re a senior in high school, planning for the future is probably on your mind more now than ever. For many of you, this is a year where one chapter will end and a brand new one will begin.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

Perhaps the biggest decision that you face is what to do next when you graduate high school in just a few short months. Figuring out what God’s plan is for your life and facing the monstrous decisions to pursue that plan can be scary! And with so many options and different paths available to you, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and discouraged.
Regardless of the decision that you’re facing, whether it’s setting a resolution to spend less at Starbucks or a decision of how to follow your God-given call, we want to challenge you to be intentional and think through the eternal impact that each decision could have.  Every decision that we make, no matter how small or large, should serve to bring glory to God.

To help you along the way, here are a few questions for you to use as guides throughout your decision-making process:

  1. What do I enjoy doing? What are my hobbies?
  2. What are my unique gifts?
  3. What are some areas where I would like to grow? What are some next steps that I can take to jumpstart that growth?
  4. What goals am I intent on following? Do they glorify God?
  5. Does this decision line up with the call that God has placed on my life?
  6. Are my decisions bringing others and myself closer to God or farther from Him?

[x_blockquote type=”left”]Our hope is that you will take the time to dive into these questions and consider what the Lord might be calling you into next. Then take some time to pray and ask God to reveal what His heart’s desire is for you.[/x_blockquote]
