Dr. Ben Gutierrez

Senior Pastor Grove Avenue Baptist Church

Dr. Ben Gutierrez is the Vice Provost for Academic Administration at Liberty University, in Lynchburg, VA. He also serves as an associate Pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church. Dr. Gutierrez received a Diploma from WOLBI in 1994. He received his AA and BS in Religion from Liberty, a Master of Arts in Religion and MDiv from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and PhD at Regent University, Virginia Beach Virginia. He has published 8 books with Broadman & Holman Academics, some of which are also translated into Spanish and Portuguese. Books include “Learn to Read New Testament Greek Workbook” (2009) which is an excellent resource to supplement one’s study of the Koine Greek language; “Ministry Is: How to Serve Jesus with Passion and Confidence” (2010) a practical guide on how to serve effectively in the local church; and “The Essence of the New Testament: A Survey” (2012) which provides the history, archaeology, and wisdom of the biblical world with an eye on the application of their moral principles, theological insights, and practical application to today’s world. His book “Living Out The Mind of Christ” is required for this course. Ben and his wife have two beautiful daughters.

Mr. Dave James

Executive Director The Alliance for Biblical Integrity

Mr. David James will be teaching Roman Catholic Evangelism and is the Executive Director of the Alliance for Biblical Integrity as well as directs and teaches in the School of Prophets, since 2009. Dave earned his undergraduate degree in engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He received his M.A. in Biblical Studies from DTS. Dave is a 1985 WOLBI graduate and he served as the Dean of Men at WOLBI until 1990 and directed the WOL Hungary BI. Dave has authored several theological articles and his first book in 2012. Assignments will be Reading (25%) and a Final Exam (75%).

Dr. James Jeffery is the former President of Baptist Bible College and Seminary. He began his ministry with BBC&S in August of 2001 after nearly thirty years of pastoral ministry as well as serving on the Board of Trustees at BBC prior to becoming President. He is an alumnus of Davis College, Baptist Bible College where he earned his Bachelors of Religious Ed., and Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary where he earned his Master of Religious Ed. in Pastoral Ministry. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by Shepherds Seminary in Cary, NC in 2005.

Mr. Chris Katulka earned a certificate of completion from the Institute of Jewish Studies, a B.S. in Bible from Cairn University, and his ThM in Old Testatment and Second Temple Judaism from Dallas Theological Seminary. He currently serves on staff at The Friends of Israel as the Assistant to the Executive Director, Radio Host for The Friends of Israel Today national program, and writer for Israel My Glory magazine. Mr. Katulka also leads ORIGINS, an annual ministry trip and tour to Israel for young adults. Chris & his wife, Karen and their 3 children reside in Haddonfield, NJ.

Dr. Jeremy Kimble

Assistant Professor of Theology Cedarville University

Dr. Kimble, Assistant Professor of Theological Studies at Cedarville University, is passionate about teaching college students the truth of God’s Word and will be teaching 2 Corinthians. His hope is that through his courses, students will seek to love God and others, rightly understand the grand narrative of Scripture, and apply theological truths to everyday life. Dr. Kimble is committed to teaching in the classroom as well as mentoring students in smaller settings. He served in pastoral ministry for eight years and has also taught in various online and adjunctive roles. Dr. Kimble’s research interests include ecclesiology, soteriology, biblical theology, biblical ethics, and the theology of Jonathan Edwards.

Don Lough, Jr. serves as the 4th Executive Director of Word of Life Fellowship, Inc. He is a 1984 WOLBI graduate. He is also a graduate of Cedarville University and Dallas Theological Seminary. His passion is to reach this generation with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Don was appointed the Director of Word of Life in August 2006. In August 2011 he became the Executive Director of Word of Life Fellowship. Don and his wife, Darla, are blessed with four children.

Dr. Terry Mortenson is an international speaker, writer and researcher with Answers in Genesis. He has a B.A. in Math, A Masters of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and a Ph.D. in the History of Geology from the University of Coventry in England. He served as a missionary with Campus Crusade for Christ for 26 years. Dr. Mortenson has authored numerous journal, magazine, and web articles.

Dr. Larry Moyer, Founder, President and CEO of EvanTell, Inc., received his B.A. from Philadelphia Biblical University, Masters of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary where he is a visiting professor in Evangelism, a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, and an honorary Doctor of Sacred Theology degree from PBU. Two of Dr. Moyer’s books are required for this class: Free and Clear, as well as Show Me How to Illustrate Evangelistic Sermons.

Randy Patten

Rev. Randy Patten is the President of TEAM Focus Ministries, an organization that seeks to increase the discipleship effectiveness of evangelical Christians and churches through the public proclamation of Scripture and private coaching. Previously he served 16 years as the Executive Director of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC), now called the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) since 1997. Prior to serving with NANC/ACBC he served 12 years as a pastor of a local church followed by 12 years as a pastor to pastors and consultant to local churches. He has been involved in training biblical counselors for 34 years, including 24 years at Faith Biblical Counseling Ministries, Lafayette, IN. Randy has a BA from Cedarville University, OH, and M.Div. from Grace Theological Seminary, Winona Lake, IN and has done doctoral studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, IL. He serves as a trustee of Cedarville University and was a founding board member of the Biblical Counseling Coalition. Randy was a contributor to Christ-Centered Biblical Counseling (Harvest House, 2012), Scripture and Counseling (Zondervan, 2014) and Biblical Counseling and the Church (Zondervan, 2015). He and his wife, Cindy, have been married for 45 years and have 2 grown children and 6 grandchildren. They are long-time members of College Park Church in Indianapolis, IN.

Pastor David Payne is from Spring Hill, FL. He attended WOLBI in 1983-85. He then served as Assist. Dean of Men here at WOLBI. He earned a ThM degree from Dallas Theological Seminary, and was a pastor for 23 years in the Carolinas and Florida. He taught Old & New Testament Survey at Charleston Southern University. Pastor Payne currently serves as Worship Leader and Bible teacher at Spring Hill Bible Church in Florida while pursuing his PhD in Systematic Theology at Piedmont International University.

Dr. Ray Pritchard, President of Keep Believing Ministries (an Internet-based community serving Christians in 225 countries. He received his BA from Tennessee Temple University, his ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary and DMin from Talbot School of Theology. He pastored churches in Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago. Most recently he pastored Calvary Memorial Church in Oak Park, IL for 16 years. He was a pastor for 26 years and now focuses on a ministry of evangelism and encouragement through KBM. Dr. Pritchard has authored several books including An Anchor for the Soul. He and his wife, Marlene have been married for 32 years and have three sons.

Recently retired Air Force Lieutenant General Loren M. Reno is the inaugural dean of the Cedarville University School of Business Administration, beginning August 1, 2012.

The appointment is part of a larger University vision to begin offering expanded graduate programs and provide greater service to the business community. Reno is uniquely equipped to position the School of Business for growth.

In his previous assignment, Reno served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Installations and Mission Support, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. He was responsible to the Chief of Staff for leadership, management, and integration of Air Force logistics readiness, aircraft and missile maintenance, civil engineering, and security forces, as well as setting policy and preparing budget estimates that reflect enhancements to productivity, combat readiness and quality of life for Air Force personnel.

In his new civilian assignment as dean, Reno is responsible for leading the University’s newly formed School of Business Administration. His responsibilities include the expansion of business course offerings beginning with the development of a master of business administration program. Reno collaborates with University leadership to integrate business course offerings into a broad range of majors.

Reno is a graduate of the Cedarville University class of 1970. “My days in the classrooms of Cedarville gave me the academic preparation I needed to succeed,” described Reno. “I learned that service before self-was honorable and that doing what God led was better than doing what man expected.” Reno lives by the principles of Micah 6:8 — “… to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.”
