The Bridge: August 6th

Dear Parents and Guardians,

God has blessed us in incredible ways this summer at Word of Life! I cannot tell you how much of an encouragement it has been to see campers and guests on our properties once more.

As you read this short update, please join us in praising the Lord for all He has done thus far and praying for a fruitful remainder of the season

Youth Camps

It’s astonishing to think that camps in New York are coming to a close. It’s been a summer like no other for us, as we ran all three of our youth camps on the same property–at the same time!

There has been an incredible spirit of unity and service in our staff, and they’ve exhibited an incredible desire to see each camper take the next step in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Every week during our recap meetings, we’ve heard stories of life change. One camper signed up well after the deadline because he saw how fun camp looked on social media. On Monday, during the gospel message, he walked down the aisle and trusted Christ as his Savior. Later on in the week, his friend, who was also a camper, told us he had been praying for him to get saved for two years. Praise God for answered prayer!

We’re rejoicing for this camper, his friend, and the countless other campers who experienced life change this summer. Please join us in praying for strength as we finish the season.

Life change can’t be measured in numbers alone, but we have been encouraged by the professions and decisions we’ve seen this summer, and we would like to encourage you as well! Check it out:

The Pines

Our summer at The Pines has been nothing short of wonderful. When we opened camp, we were under the threat of COVID quarantines and contact tracing. However, during our first week with guests, all restrictions were lifted by New York State, which has allowed us to run camp as normal. God is at work at The Pines–we have seen over 30 salvation decisions and 260 dedication decisions at our campfire services thus far.

Because we extended our camping season by three extra weeks this year, we decided to have two separate Camp Crew and Staff groups come in. The transition between Teams 1 and 2 went incredibly smoothly, and we have seen great attitudes in both teams. We’re proud of all our Camp Crew and Staff, and it has been a joy to serve with them.
