Brian Baker Speaking

The Bridge: February 7, 2025

A Note from Brian
Winter camp season is in full swing, and the student body in both Florida and New York is doing an incredible job. Recently, we read through Philippians in our Quiet Time, and I was challenged by Paul’s commitment to press on toward the goal of knowing Jesus Christ more. Despite distractions and difficult circumstances—far greater than ours—Paul’s priority remained steadfast: pursuing Christ above all.

This is a critical season for our students. With the combination of classes and camp ministry, it’s the busiest stretch of their year. In these moments, they need reminders to keep their eyes on Jesus, to rely on His strength, and to use their downtime wisely. Their next break will be here before you know it! Please pray for them in these next few weeks, and then enjoy hearing firsthand how God worked in their lives during this season.

To God be the glory!

Young Adults Weekend

We recently hosted our first Young Adults Weekend at Snowcamp, welcoming over 100 college students and young professionals to our campus for a weekend conference alongside WOLBI students. Attendees participated in breakout sessions such as:

  • Should I Be Committed to a Local Church?
  • World News and Politics Through a Biblical Lens
  • How Do I Know If I Need Biblical Counseling?

They also attended main sessions led by our dean of students, Drew Burtis, and enjoyed a powerful worship night led by our student band. The bravest among them even took the Polar Plunge!

Spring Semester

On Tuesday, January 21, we officially kicked off the spring semester, welcoming twelve new students. Freshmen began their studies in Matthew with Dr. Christopher Cone, while sophomores dove into Dispensationalism with Jon Lough.

Snowcamp Season

Winter has arrived in the Adirondacks, and we’re making the most of it! Snowcamp is in full swing, meaning that for seven weekends, your student will be serving campers – whether in a service area, leading exciting (and freezing!) outdoor activities, or counseling students.

Middle and high schoolers flood our campus each weekend, eager for a fun escape, a time of spiritual renewal, or an opportunity to bring a friend who doesn’t yet know Christ. Please pray that God moves mightily and that many hearts are transformed by the Gospel!

Campus Preview Days

Do you know someone who would benefit from a year immersed in God’s Word? We’re hosting Campus Preview Days on February 13–14—a perfect opportunity for potential students to experience life at WOLBI.

College Fair

WOLBI is committed to preparing students for their future. That’s why we’re hosting a College Fair exclusively for WOLBI students and local high schoolers! Universities that love WOLBI students will be in attendance, offering scholarships and exciting academic opportunities. If your student is unsure about their next steps, encourage them to stop by!
