I am excited to announce that the Word of Life Bible Institute New York campus will enter an educational partnership with Davis College beginning this fall semester!
Recently, New York State and the according accreditors approved Davis College’s decision to sell their main campus, relocate to a smaller property in Johnson City, and extend their program to Word of Life’s New York campus. This arrangement provides current Davis students with the choice to complete their degree programs at the new Johnson City property or at the Word of Life property. Additionally, the extension provides a pathway for second-year Word of Life students to matriculate directly into Davis and complete a Bachelor of Religious Education degree — with an emphasis in Christian Ministries — without ever leaving the New York Bible Institute campus, which allows students to pursue higher education while still engaging in the enriching Word of Life atmosphere.
Historically, Reverend John Adelbert Davis founded Practical Bible School in 1900 to provide students with a Biblically-centered approach to higher education, basing the fledgling school off of Moody Bible Institute. According to an official statement published in March 2019 from Davis College’s Board of Trustees, Davis is adapting to the changing landscape of higher education “by moving into a new chapter in its century-old legacy of training men and women for Christian and non-profit service, both at home and abroad.” This new chapter includes partnering with Word of Life.
The New York campus of the Word of Life Bible Institute, founded in 1971, runs a unique program consisting of Bible classes taught by professors and leading theologians, a rigorous set of ministry requirements, and a structured discipleship atmosphere. First-year students receive a foundation in understanding books of the Bible, theology, and church history. Second-year students focus more on various practical approaches to full-time ministry.
Davis and the Bible Institute will continue as two separate entities but will operate with this shared services agreement, which takes the strengths of these institutions and allows them to complement each other. Between the Bible Institute’s intense and intimate discipleship program and Davis’s more traditional collegiate approach to academics, students will receive a singular pedagogical experience that equips them for service and leadership within the church, Christian organizations, and any other space the Lord leads them.
In Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, the author states,
Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
I believe that this partnership between the Bible Institute and Davis College will powerfully prepare students for serving in the local church, in local communities, and around the world, further reaching people with the love of Jesus Christ!
We ask that you pray with us as we seek to pursue and develop this partnership with excellence.
Please check out our website and, in particular, our social media newsfeed for additional information concerning this partnership between the Bible Institute and Davis!

Wow, this is amazing. I’m encouraged greatly of the progress in which WOL continues to grow to help students be better equipped in serving the Lord! Thank you WOL for giving me the best years of my life to grow closer to my Saviour!
P.B.T.S./Davis is my Alma Mater and i was worried it was going to close. This news is comforting for sure. I will be praying for for the overseers of this decision and that God would give them wisdom and direction.
