Jordan and Cindy Ross

Meet the Alumnus – Jordan Ross

What is your name, where are you from, and can you tell us about your family?

My name is Jordan Ross and I’m from Boston, Massachusetts. I’m the third of four children (I have an older brother, an older sister, and a younger sister) and the only one of my siblings that has a relationship with Christ.

Tell us a little bit about your salvation experience.

I got saved when I was four; my mom was the one that led me to the Lord. I grew up coming to Word of Life Camps and that helped make the Gospel very clear and real to me.

When did you come to Word of Life Bible Institute?

I was a student at the Word of Life Bible Institute starting in September of 2016. I did both the first and second-year program there and graduated in August of 2018.

What is your favorite memory of WOLBI as a student?

My favorite memory of WOLBI, apart from all the great teachers in the lecture hall, was the opportunity given to me to be involved in discipleship. Through one-on-one relationships with godly men on staff, my character and relationship with the Lord was stretched regularly and put me on a course to where I am today.

What are some ways you are applying what you learned at the Bible Institute today, whether in daily life or vocational ministry?

I am currently serving as a CCI intern in Brazil, answering the Lord’s call to serve cross-culturally in missions. Through the difficulties of serving overseas in a foreign language and culture, I have been constantly applying the idea of putting fact over feeling as well as remembering the importance of having consistent time with the Lord.

“The only thing I can control in life is what time I wake up in the morning to meet Jesus.” -Mike Calhoun

What is your life verse and why?

2 Timothy 4:5- “But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”

This is a daily reminder for me and somewhat of a checklist of what my life should look like and the things I should be doing on a daily basis in ministry.

If you could speak to a younger you today – what would you say?

Honestly, I would tell myself to read my Bible and sign up for Camp Crew (STC). I never had a consistent Quiet Time when I was growing up, and I know that if I did, my life would probably be drastically different. Also, I always just used my summers for whatever I wanted but I know that if I had done Camp Crew, I would have learned valuable lessons in leadership, discipline, and character at a much earlier age.
