The year you trusted Christ: My mother led me to the Lord when I was 7. She said that there was a big change in my life! It was at WOL camp that I dedicated my life to whatever God had for me.
Favorite verse: “This has carried me through so much!” ~Isaiah 26:3-4.
How you came to the Bible Institute: I had been a camper for years (Ranch, Ranger Camp & Island). I knew I wanted to study the Bible and serve a camp. I was so excited that graduated high school a year early.
I was blessed to be raised in the beautiful Sunshine State by parents who love the Lord very much. I gave my life to Jesus at a young age and always tried to be a “good Christian”. It wasn’t until I attended the Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida that I really saw what it means to be a follower of Jesus rather than a follower of rules. In my year there, God’s Word came alive for me! Living my life for God transformed from the way I was raised to my life’s passion and purpose! After attending my first year at the Bible Institute, I dove into student ministry at my home church and finished my Bachelors of Christian Counseling at Liberty University online. Then, in 2018, The Lord gave me the opportunity to take a big leap to the north, and work with Word of Life in Upstate New York! Being a follower of Jesus is an exciting adventure, and I can’t wait to see what He does next!
As a student at Word of Life, I experienced a program that was completely unique. The holistic approach that Word of Life takes to the Christian Life is such a healthy template that any believer could use for their life! Our three-pronged approach emphasizes Study, Life and Ministry. Study, we should always be students of God’s Word, as we all know we’ll never fully arrive until Glory! Life, living for Jesus is not meant to be done alone. We need a community of believers, and Word of Life shows you what that can be like. Ministry, Jesus commanded us to make disciples, and Word of Life gives you the training to build that skill.
As a staff member, I now see the other side of the program. I would say that we have some of the most incredible staff in the world! There are so many detailed ways that our staff go above and beyond to care for our students, to give them an amazing experience, to show them the love of Jesus and to invest in them as individual brothers and sisters in Christ! You won’t find a better-quality staff at any higher education institution.
I grew up in a home that loved the Lord, I got saved at a young age around 5 years old. When I was 14, I really understood what it meant to have a relationship with God, and I took the next step to be Baptized and started to live out what I have always heard. When I was 15 years old, I got very sick and struggled for 4 months with not eating and having panic attacks. I was later diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. This was a big struggle in my life and still is, but it is amazing to see God use it for his glory and His good!
I decided to come to Word of Life at the beginning of my Senior Year. I went to Word of Life my first year and really struggled. It was not easy to have a lot more structure than I was used to, but God was moving in my heart and really challenged me. I decided to go to Second Year and in Second Year I was able to really learn who God is and see how amazing He really is. Second Year was the best year of my life and I am so thankful for the experience, it grew me in more ways than one. I ended up graduating and staying on as staff as an intern in our Academic Department and I also started classes with Clarks Summit University online.
I was an intern for one year and at the end of that year I started to work for the Admissions Department in the summer. By the end of the summer, I was asked to stay on as a full-time employee. I graduated from Clarks Summit with my bachelor’s in August of 2020 and then In October of 2020 I got married to my High School Sweetheart and we now live here in Schroon Lake.
Word of Life is different because all around you is the Bible and the Gospel. You are learning God’s Word, living it and being challenged everyday all at the same time. It changed my whole life and I truly believe everyone should take a year out of their life to study the Word of God.
I grew up in a Christian family and I came to know Christ as my Savior when I was six years old. Even though I was only six years old, I had already so tangibly seen God’s faithfulness in my life as He provided for my family. When my mom shared that Jesus died on the cross for my sin and rose again so that I could have a relationship with Him, I knew I could put my faith and trust in Him. Throughout the years, God put people in my path to encourage me in my spiritual growth and I had the blessing of serving with Camp Crew during high school. Those were the best summers of my life as I continued to grow in my relationship with God and had the opportunity to serve the Lord.
It was during the summer of my junior year that I decided I wanted to study the Bible at WOLBI. The two years I spent at Word of Life Bible Institute were so formative to my spiritual growth and gave me a passion for counseling. I went on to study at Clarks Summit University to finish my bachelor’s degree in counseling and came back to Word of Life to serve as a Discipleship Coordinator at the New York campus. I loved the opportunity to invest in the lives of the young women on campus!
After that, I served as the Dean of Women at the South Korea campus and I thank God for the unique opportunity to serve overseas doing discipleship. After serving in South Korea for two years, I came back to New York to serve as the International Admissions Counselor at WOLBI and continue my master’s degree in counseling. I love the ministry God has given me with the international students and it’s a joy to serve them!
The discipleship atmosphere is definitely the most unique aspect of the Word of Life Bible Institute. With an emphasis on spiritual growth and community, the students and staff are encouraged to grow closer to the Lord and each other.
I grew up in a broken home. My parents were divorced and not living for God and my childhood was full of difficulties. But, when I was 7, both of my biological parents came to know the Lord as their Savior! After that, I was constantly in church and started hearing the Gospel, or the good news. It wasn’t until I was in junior high when my Fellowship of Christian Athletes group at my public school took me to see a play called Heaven’s Gates and Hell’s Flames that I understood I had sin in my life.
I was angry at my parents for divorcing and bitter toward my dad and step-dad for their mistakes. I was lustful and jealous of others. God showed me that night that my sin would keep me from His presence in heaven and that I needed saving from His wrath for sin. I knew that I would be separate from God forever if I died right then! But God, graciously showed me as well that there is hope and I could have salvation that meant my sins were forgiven and my relationship with Him restored if I turned from my sin, put my faith in His Son Jesus Christ, and believed that God raised him from the dead.
I prayed that night to turn from my sin to Christ! It was the best decision I have ever made. After I graduated high school, I started attending a public community college, but through some terrible decisions, God showed me he had a different plan for my life. I attended the Word of Life Bible Institute in 2008-2009 and God radically changed my life! I knew that I had forgiveness, but it wasn’t until I was at the Bible Institute that I realized that I needed, and wanted, to give God my whole life, not just trust Him with my eternal security.
I ended up staying with Word of Life as an intern, I met my wife here and we eventually left to start a family. After serving several years in Admissions at WOLBI, I received a job at Cedarville University in their Admissions Department. A couple of years, and kids later, my wife and I accepted Word of Life’s offer to come back and lead the Admissions Department. I am so blessed to serve at the college that God used to change my life and my mission is to see every Christian find that deeper walk with God and I believe the best place to do that is at the Word of Life Bible Institute!
I think what makes Word of Life different is that the students are immediately putting their faith and learning into action through ministry. Every student is required to be in ministry and you learn very early on that ministry doesn’t mean just preaching. Anything in life that we do can be a ministry and can point people to God. I have been on platform ministries and behind the scenes ministries, and it all brings glory and honor to Him with equal opportunity to show people Jesus.

The year you trusted Christ: August of 1960. My grandfather came to know the Lord in his 50s. He began to share the gospel with my Mom & Dad. They resisted. My grandparents gave us a free vacation at Word of Life Inn in Schroon Lake, NY. I was seven and my parents were 30 when we came to Christ that summer.
Favorite verse: “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.” ~Ephesians 3:20 & 21
How you came to the Bible Institute: I thought that one year of Bible would be a good foundation before going to engineering school. During the course of the year at WOLBI (1971-72) I went from wanting to be an engineer, to wanting to be a missionary pilot, to wanting to be a missionary to Israel, to not knowing what I wanted to be but wanting to study the Bible more.
