The Bridge: Fall Opening 2020
We are excited to begin another year at Word of Life Bible Institute! Things may look a little different than they usually do, but we continue to remain dedicated to the spiritual, emotional, and physical care of our students at the Bible Institute. Academics: Incoming freshmen students should have received a letter from Dr. Weaver (Academic Dean). In that letter, they were informed about several essential items: 1) Logos Bible Software; 2) Canvas learning management system, 3) Office 360, and 4) our Respondus Lock-Down Browser. The best thing your student can do to ensure that they are well prepared for the beginning of the academic semester is to consult that letter and follow the detailed directions to download the necessary items before their arrival on campus. If they have not received that letter or it was lost, they can contact us at academics@wol.org for an electronic version. If your student …
Word of Life Florida Campus Update
It is with a heavy heart that we have made the decision to close our Florida Youth Camp, effective immediately. We are also cancelling the remaining weeks of camp out of an abundance of care and concern. Recognizing that we have a responsibility to each camper and their families, our staff and students, and to the community at large, we believe this is the best decision for all involved. Recently, we were made aware of two additional staff members testing positive with COVID-19, which brings our total to four staff for the summer testing positive. We have followed our health and safety protocols and all staff were isolated upon any signs of sickness. We believe it is best to shut down to prevent any further spread of illness. We are asking that all campers be picked up no later than 11am on Tuesday, July 14. We understand that your time …
New York Students: Summer 2020 Information
Dear Bible Institute Students, We have missed you tremendously on campus, but we are so proud of your diligence and persistence in your program as we were forced to transition to remote instruction. As you have walked through this trial, we are so proud of how you have demonstrated the joy that only Christ can give! After much prayer, discussion, and consultation with our local health and government authorities, it is with a heavy heart that Word of Life has determined we have no option other than to cancel our 2020 New York Summer Camp programs. While we are greatly disappointed to miss out on the summer season, especially because of the life change that we have experienced at camp every summer for the past 74 years, it has become clear over the past several weeks that additional New York State guidelines and restrictions have made camp completely unfeasible. As things currently stand, New …
The Bridge: Bible Institute and Camp Updates
Dear Parents and Students, One of the hardest things for me personally during this COVID-19 situation has been the feeling of being disconnection from others. I am thrilled to be around my wife and children regularly, and I would like to think they are feeling the same. However, we all long for relationship and community with others. In fact, we are even encouraged to be together in the Bible. Hebrews 10:24-25 says: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Can I encourage you? While we are not able to be together at this time, we can still be encouraging one another in love and in service. We have been sharing with the students that …
