The Youth Ministry Internship (YMI) is a two-year internship for graduates of Word of Life Bible Institute’s sophomore year program who are interested in serving in youth or children’s ministry in a local church.

YMI gives interns an opportunity to serve alongside a youth pastor or children’s ministry pastor so they can gain hands-on ministry experience and receive training on how to lead a student or children’s ministry.

Prior to beginning their internship in a local church, the interns will receive training from Word of Life’s Youth Ministries Staff. They will learn various best practices for youth ministries including foundations for youth ministry, event planning and calendar organization, curriculum selection and leadership training principles, practical discipleship and evangelism principles, as well as other ministry-related topics.

While the interns serve in a local church receiving a small salary, they will continue their formal education on-line with access to discounted tuition rates from participating educational institutions.

YMI Interns are placed at a Word of Life Partner Church all across the United States. You will post your information on a Job Board and connect with churches that fit your area of interest whether it be children’s ministry or student ministry. You will connect directly with churches about the details of your internship.

After an application process, your two years of ministry will begin with a week of training on local church ministry under the direction of the Youth Ministries division of Word of Life.
You will be discipled by a pastor or youth leader in the church over the two years of the internship. We have a Job Board where you can see intern opportunities and post your resume for churches as well.  Training is held immediately after graduation the first year. You will begin serving in early September.

You will work out an agreement with a church that includes a salary and housing and other options. Once you are on the Job Board, you can begin contacting churches to find more about their intern positions and where you best fit. To get more information, please contact

All YMI interns are required to pursue a degree during their internship. We want to send you out prepared with both ministry experience and a college education! We have partnered with Davis College, Liberty University, and Clarks Summit University to offer you discounted tuition.
