Brian Baker - Vice President, Word of Life Bible Institute

The Lord used his time at the Word of Life Bible Institute to call Brian into the ministry. For 17 years he was a missionary with Word of Life Youth Ministries in North Carolina. The next 7 years were spent leading the Northeast region for Word of Life and then in December, 2021 Brian accepted the role as Vice President over the NY Bible Institute and Camps. He is passionate about helping young people develop a biblical foundation to build the rest of their life on. Brian loves preaching, teaching and building into current and future leaders. The Bridge – Updates from the Office of the President

From the Office of Brian Baker

The Bridge: February 2, 2024

A Note from Brian    It’s Snowcamp and Pursuit Camp season – one of my favorite times of the year! Every weekend, we welcome hundreds of teenage campers to our campuses and our students (your children) amazingly lead them. We are seeing hundreds of teens take their next steps with Jesus. During these busy seven weeks, our students must get plenty of rest. As you communicate with your Bible Institute student, we would love your collaboration in encouraging them to get adequate sleep and not over-extend themselves during their time off. Thank you for your continued prayer for all that God is doing here! Latest News  New York      On January 12, the New York campus welcomed about 7 new students for our Spring Registration.   On January 12–14, we had our Spiritual Emphasis Weekend to help students begin the spring semester and Snowcamp season off right! Our guest speaker, Jason Hodges, spoke ...

The Bridge: January 5, 2024

A Note from Brian   Happy New Year! I hope and pray that you have had an amazing time on break with your son or daughter.   It is too quiet here at the Bible Institute, and we are excited to have students back on campus soon. We will be starting off the new semester with a Spiritual Emphasis Weekend, which will allow students to focus on growing in their relationship with the Lord as they enter a busy stretch of classes and winter camp. Please be praying as we look to minister to thousands of teens over the coming months. I am excited to share stories of life change that will come from this year’s winter camp ministry.  Latest News   New York     Students had quite a busy month of December. Last month, two open air evangelism teams went out to New York City and ministered to 2,650 people. Out of these, ...

The Bridge: December 1, 2023

A Note from Brian While academics are very important to us here at Word of Life Bible Institute, it is our heart for ministry that makes our program unique. I am happy to report that this year’s student body has a tremendous heart for ministry. Whether through church ministry, athletic teams, Open Air Evangelism, gaming ministry, Spanish ministry, youth ministry, bands, drama, or Reverb events, students in both Florida and New York have already made a tremendous impact this year. They have ministered to over 21,000 people and seen over 500 make professions of faith in Jesus Christ. As your students are getting much-needed rest over Christmas break, I hope you’ll ask them about their ministry experience. Enjoy your time with them, and I hope you have a Merry Christmas! Latest News New York Students have had quite a busy season in October and November. They’ve been ministering to churches ...

The Bridge: November 3, 2023

A Note from Brian It’s hard to believe we are approaching the halfway point of the semester. The enthusiasm of our students overjoys me. Their desire to allow the Lord to work in their lives personally and their heart to reach this world for Jesus are such a blessing. Our students have already ministered to about eight thousand people, and we’ve had the chance to see 164 place their faith in Jesus. Since I know you are missing your child, remember that Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here before you know it. We are praying for you! Latest News Both campuses had Spirit Week October 10–13 with the themes of Campus Switch Day (students dressed like someone at the opposite Bible Institute campus, either New York or Florida), Wacky Twins Day, Dress Like a Staff Member Day, and Anything but a Backpack Day (students carried their supplied items in various ...

The Bridge: October 13, 2023

A Note from Brian  In our Quiet Time, we have recently been in 1 John. Chapter four reminds us we can love because God first loved us. One of the joys of being at the Bible Institute is the relationships students build here. These relationships turn into opportunities to live out 1 John. It has been my privilege to watch students live this out. We pray for and encourage growth in this area, and we would encourage you as parents to do the same. Loving others is not always easy, but it is what God has called us to do. It is possible through His strength and example.      Latest News  Both Campuses – Over the past several days, we’ve had a ton of fun with Spirit Week! Both campuses planned their Spirit Week on the same dates so they could have a fun experience together. Each day, students were invited ...

The Bridge: September 29, 2023

A Note from Brian  I have enjoyed spending time on both of our campuses (New York and Florida) over the last couple of weeks, and it is evident that our students have adjusted well to life here at the Bible Institute! I am encouraged by their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn, grow, and serve. I am reminded of two verses we read recently in our Quiet Time.    “That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.”   1 John 1:3–4.     It is a joy to watch the Word of God come alive to our students as they study it and interact with our faculty and staff. As always, please let us know if ...
