Logos Bible Study Software: Logos Bible Software is a leading digital library and Bible study platform designed for the study of Scripture and biblical and theological literature. Every student at our New York, Florida, and Owen Sound teaching sites receives a customized Logos Bible Software package that includes most of the required course textbooks.
Students will receive training in the use of Logos Bible Software before classes begin.
Class notes are delivered through Canvas in Microsoft Word format and are optimized for use with Logos. After completing the notes for each course, students can import them into their Logos library. As a result, their Bible Institute notes, including both the instructional content provided by the professor and the notes they add themselves, become a fully searchable resource that is electronically integrated with their textbooks and the other resources in their Logos library. This allows students to continue benefiting from their course materials long after graduation as part of a unified Bible study library.
Microsoft Office 365: Once students receive their wordoflife.edu email account, they can sign in to Microsoft 365 through office.com to access the full suite of Office applications online. They may also download and install the Microsoft 365 applications on their personal computers.
Canvas LMS: Canvas is WOLBI’s learning management system (LMS) and serves as the central hub for course information and academic communication. Through Canvas, students can access course syllabi, class notes, learning resources, assignments, quizzes and exams, grades, and other course materials. Canvas also provides access to campus schedules, announcements, and other important communications.
Lockdown Browser: LockDown Browser is a secure web browser used for quizzes and examinations administered through Canvas. Before taking their first test, students should use the link provided in Canvas to download and install LockDown Browser on their computer. Once installed, the browser will be used for all future tests.
Note: Students are expected to take physical notes with pen and paper in class and will have access to professors’ notes on Canvas for study and review after class.
TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS
COMPUTER SPECIFICATIONS
Computers used in the classroom will need to run Microsoft Windows or Apple OSX operating systems.
You may find the best overall system requirements on the Logos website.
At a minimum, you should have Windows 11 or MacOS 14, 8GB RAM, and 128GB internal drive storage space. It is recommended that you have Windows 11 or MacOS 26, 16GB RAM, and 512GB internal drive storage space. Chromebooks are not recommended due to limited functionality with necessary software.

COMPUTER SERVICE
The IT team will assist students with installing software provided by Word of Life at no charge.
IT also offers basic computer troubleshooting and repair assistance free of charge. While labor is provided at no cost, students are responsible for purchasing any replacement parts that may be required. The IT team can help diagnose hardware issues and recommend replacement parts when necessary.
IT provides limited hardware repair and does not perform advanced repairs or manufacturer warranty service.
If a student experiences a computer breakdown or in cases where a student’s computer does not meet the required specifications, a loaner will be provided free of charge for a period of up to 2 weeks.
TABLET OPTIONS
Logos and Microsoft offer free apps for the iPad, iPhone, Android, and Kindle Fire. They have limited functionality and cannot do everything that the Logos software can do on a Windows or Mac computer. Most importantly, you cannot integrate your class notes the way you can on the computer.
Lockdown Browser will only work on some Apple devices and will NOT work on Android devices.
