FAQS FOR PARENTS

What is the cost? The base cost for 2023-24 is $21,500.

Are all the meals included in the tuition? Yes!

Do we accept FAFSA and Pell Grant? Yes!

Are we accredited? Yes!

How many credits transfer? Up to 40 credits will transfer.

How many students do we have? We have approximately 370 students between the freshman and sophomore program.

What do they graduate with? Students who complete two years of the core curriculum with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher will receive a diploma. Those meeting all the requirements of the Freshman year, but with a cumulative average of less than 2.0, receive a Certificate of Attendance

Can my student have a job, too? Select students are eligible for the Federal Work Study Program. Select students are also able to join the Student Experience Program (SEP). SEP Students will earn a $3000 scholarship. Student Leadership Scholarships

What is the student to staff ratio? 1 staff member for every 5 students

How many students are in a room? It varies from dorm to dorm. The most common room size is four beds.

Do they need a car on campus? Student do not need a car, however, they are more than welcome to bring their vehicle.

Can freshman have a car on campus? Absolutely!

Is there transportation to the airport for breaks? Yes! Students can work out transportation requests before the break. NY students can fill out a request form at wol.to/nytransport

What is the fee for having cars on campus? The fee is 25 dollars per semester.

Is my student allowed to stay on campus for breaks? No, every student is required to leave campus during breaks.

When do students arrive for sports? Those trying out for Soccer and Volleyball should arrive Monday, August 22, 2022 by 5:00 PM. Basketball and Softball tryouts will take place during Opening Weekend.

How does my student try out for music? Students submit an audition tape to RyanArnold@wol.org

What are the extra fees not included in tuition? The sports program requires an additional fee of $250 to cover warm-ups and apparel and equipment costs.

How long is the program? The Word of Life Bible Institute begins in September and ends in August of the following year.

Can my student have a TV in the room? Yes.

When does the billing cycle start? The billing cycle begins in August.

What are the payment options? There are various payment options for each family to choose from. This can be worked out with the business office.

How many scholarships do you offer? (Scholarship Cap) There is an institutional scholarship of $8,000. There is, however, no limit on outside scholarships.

What is the dress code? The class dress code can be found on page 34 of the NY Student Handbook and page 32 of the  FL Student Handbook.

When is the curfew? Monday – Thursday the curfew 10:30PM, Friday – Sunday the curfew is midnight

What appliances can we have/ do we need? Students should plan on coordinating with their roommates on bringing the necessary appliances: Minifridge, Microwave, Vacuum, and a Coffee Pot

What is the class schedule? Classes run Tuesday through Friday from 8 AM to 1 PM.

Do you have nurses on campus? No. However, all of our security team are RTE certified.

How close are the nearest doctors and hospitals? Glens Falls hospital is 40 minutes away. The Schroon Lake Hudson Headwaters Health Center is 10 minutes away.

What do you do to make the campus safe? There is a security team that regularly patrols the property.

Do you accommodate dietary needs? We offer gluten, dairy, and nut free options at each meal.

What kind of academic help do we offer?  We can offer students additional time on tests, access to tutors, and study groups. Additional academic help can be discussed with the academic department. Email Tsteltz@wol.org for more details.
