The Bridge: October 7

Dear Parents and Loved Ones,

Our prayer is that your student is getting acclimated to life here at WOLBI. Please remember that we are here to help them in any way we can. Your student’s RA, RD, or any of the deans are here to serve, so have your student let us know if there is anything we can do. Our staff and faculty want to live out Acts 20:35b— “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Center for Biblical Counseling

One of the ministry resources that we offer at our New York campus is the Center for Biblical Counseling (CBC). The mission of the CBC is to provide a private and safe environment for our students and staff to sort out difficult life issues and help them make godly decisions that contribute to their spiritual growth (Ephesians 4:13). The CBC offers free biblical counseling services that include one-on-one biblical counseling sessions or the opportunity to connect with others in a focused, small group setting led by one of the biblical counseling interns. Under the supervision of the Director of Counseling, Joe Schenke, ten interns actively work with students. These biblical counseling interns are mentored and trained by Joe in the counseling field to prepare them for future ministry. Although the CBC acts mainly as a resource for students and staff at WOLBI New York, God has expanded this ministry’s outreach by allowing them to minister to students in other countries, such as Germany, South Korea, Hungary, and Canada.

Students can access this resource by contacting us at mybiblicalcounseling@wordoflife.edu or by stopping by the Center for Biblical Counseling on campus.

The CBC also has a new website that you can check out at the link below: https://wordoflife.edu/counseling/

Personal Tours and Campus Preview Days

Do you or a loved one have someone that you’d love to see attend the Bible Institute? Well, you can tell them about these two opportunities to show them around our campus. At the link below, you can sign up for a Campus Preview Days weekend or a personal tour.

Campus Preview Days is a free, campus-wide event lasting three days and two nights. Students stay in one of our beautiful dorms and get to join other students for a weekend full of planned activities to give them an exciting glimpse of life at Word of Life Bible Institute. Our first Campus Preview Days event is at the end of this month (October 27–29).

Even if you can’t make it to Campus Preview Days, we would still love to have you visit! If you give us 48 hours’ notice, we’ll set you up with a personalized tour schedule, one-on-one time with an admissions counselor, and meetings with requested staff (dependent on availability)

Reverb

Next month, Word of Life will be hosting an annual all-night event called Reverb. In this evangelistic event, youth groups and teens are encouraged to bring their unsaved friends to watch a basketball or hockey game, enjoy various activities (such as bowling, roller skating, or trampoline parks), and hear the life-changing message of the gospel. Reverb will take place in twelve cities over three weekends in November.

If you are interested in sending your kids or youth group to Reverb, please go to the link below for more details!

Story Conference

Over the past weekend, freshman students experienced Story Conference here on campus. This conference focused on teaching students how to share their testimony in a way that is relevant to this generation. The four conference sessions lasted from Thursday to Saturday and featured Greg Stier, the founder of Dare to Share, as the main speaker.

Bi-weekly Bridge

We will be sending out another Bridge blog next week, then we will begin posting these updates on a biweekly basis.
